Love Trumps Hate

Friday, March 18, 2016

I can't quite bring myself to believe that Donald Trump is the leading Republican Presidential candidate. How did we get here? I literally do not know a single person who would support him, but apparently they exist, and in large numbers. And maybe this disbelief, or willful ignorance on my part, is in fact how we as a country have come to this point.

What is scariest to me about Donald Trump winning the nomination is not that he could become President (I really, really, really can't even go there). No, what is scariest to me is what his popularity says about our country as a whole. He is an angry, rude and self-centered person. He looks out for himself and has no qualms about bullying others in his way. What does this say about us?

Isn't That Something

Friday, February 05, 2016

Isn't it something how sometimes the only constant in life is change? Do you ever wish that life had a pause button? Life is going too fast for me these days (Hello, it's March! I haven't posted anything to this blog in a month! How did that happen? I'll tell you how - life...) and it feels like things are changing all around me. For someone who likes control (who, me?) change can be hard. But I am trying to focus less on what I can't control and work more on changing myself - the one thing I can control.

Beat the Winter Blues Blueberry Pancakes

Friday, January 29, 2016

January. Is it just me, or does it sometimes feel like it will last foreverrrr?! Coming down from the holiday high, with the end of winter still too far for comfort, and sunlight a distant memory, who can blame us for wanting to stay in bed all day? My solution - beat the winter blues with blueberry pancakes.

The Best Gift I Received This Christmas

Friday, January 08, 2016

You may (said optimistically) or may not (more realistically) have noticed that it has been a while since I posted anything on the blog. There are several draft posts sitting in blogger purgatory that I started but did not have the time nor energy to post.

One was related to making crafty Christmas gifts, what was I thinking? Another was related to Christmas cooking, who was I kidding? And another was on being more present throughout the holiday season, which I eventually decided to do rather than just write about. Hence, it is now mid-January of 2016 and I am finally posting something. I thought I would feel bad about not blogging for a while, but in reality, I feel relieved. Relieved and relaxed.
